WHAT’S INVOLVED
This is the compliance certifcate that covers basic Food Safety clients complete and are assessed on the theory component to unit standard 167. This is a pre-requiste to unit standard 168. There is an optional practical component to the unit standard 167 which requires the client to be assessed on two occassions handling food safely. Upon successful completion the unit standard 167 can then reported to NZQA extra costs may apply.
The Food Hygiene certificate is unit standard 168 is an advanced add-on from unit 167, that covers contamination and control methods. There is an open-book and closed-book assessment that needs to be completed prior to reporting the unit standard to NZQA.
These courses require payment in full prior to course commencement. This is due to a workbook needing to be sent out and activities throughout needing to be completed in order to prepare the applicant for the training course. We advise booking at least 7 working days prior to course date. On successful completion of the closed-book assessment the food safety or hygiene certificate is awarded usually on the day to the applicant or unless otherwise advised by their employer.
